Additional information
I spend the last five days of the project only sleeping 3 hours a day to finish it on time. The project was too ambitious to begin with and with the amount of time I had so I ended up sacrificing hours of sleep in order to polish the game but knowing me, if I was not such a stubborn individual I would have made the game simpler. I am glad to have this stubbornness because it helps me to keep going forward and be able to reach newer heights. I am aware that there are some bugs in the video game but I will not fix them so no need to contact me. Also, if you play the game you will probably find the walljump bug so I let you know that it is indeed a bug that I never managed to fix.
For being such a short game which you can beat within 5 minutes, I implemented a lot of mechanics and funcionalitaties because I decided that with this project I wanted to expand my knowledge of Unity. The whole list of them are explained in the help section of the game once you play it. However, the expense of having such a complex game is that you will find some bugs. For example, the most noticeable one you will likely experience is related to the walljump mechanic. Obviously, since it goes against the programmer’s code, I am not going to tell you how to reproduce this bug in particular.
Pay attention when playing and try to find all the references I have included of other popular video games.
Instructions
If you simply want to play the game, just download the assets and you will find and executable file for Windows and Mac unless you also want to check the project itself which in this case you will need to follow the instructions below.
- Download Pixel Hero and then download and install Unity Hub
- Go to https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive
- Find Unity 2018.3.6 and then click on Unity Hub
- Complete the installation process
- Change to the Projects section on the left sidebar
- Click Add and select the folder inside of the project
- Finally, open the project
Now you can do everything with my project like creating a Linux build in case you need one. If you do not exactly how to do so, Google is your friend and will tell you the answer if you ask him properly and nicely.
